What is the value of a single man?
What could his small force ever act to change?
For to a flame he is but a small fan,
unable to create, just rearrange.

For only fools trust in their own self-worth
and worse, those who believe in other's words
for from this all delusions are giv'n birth
that one is above all the mindless herds.

What cares the heavens for the acts of man?
What have you that the stars of space desire?
For they have been far longer than you've lived,
and will exist long after you expire.

Yet even so there's worth that man imparts,
it lies in words that shape yet living hearts.
My first shot at writing a Sonnet. Although Shakespeare seemed to do just fine I struggle with the form. Probably a lack of experience. Comments welcome, especially advice on writing in more rigid traditional forms.
